By now, you might know that each and every one of the authors contributing to the book Poetry for Coaching are professional coaches, counsellors or therapists.
It’s not just textbooks, theoretical journals and courses that inform the work of these professionals. Some, like our authors, are very creative and have realised how valuable poetry, old and new, is when dealing with emotions, tricky life circumstances and relationships.
It has led them to develop a lifestyle that includes making space to create poetry that meets them where they are, or where they hope to be. It can enable thoughts to be unlocked, processed or articulated in a way that is cathartic and helpful going forward.
Some of the authors also use poetry as a resource during their sessions with clients to help tackle certain topics or perspectives, in a way that opens up reflection, potentially discussion and often facilitates steps towards the change they seek.
More to be shared about this soon.
